design process

Initial Phase
Before design and development begins, we assess your needs and answer your questions. During this time we discuss the following:

bullet

What you want to accomplish with your web site

bullet

Who you want to visit your site

bullet

What you want to tell your visitors

bullet

What type of information will your site will contain
(Will it be an informational on-line brochure or sell products or services?)

bullet

How you plan to market your site to bring in visitors and to lure them back

Planning
When you decide you want to move forward with site development, we set up a meeting with you, either in person or over the phone, to discuss the specific details of your site. Two hours of  planning time is included with each site designed by us. We will send you a worksheet to complete. The information you give us is used to plan and create a Website designed specifically for your business.

The following are a few of the questions included on our worksheet. We need this information to begin the development process.

bullet

What content will your site contain?

bullet

How do you want the information to flow?

bullet

What kind of look and feel do you want your site to have? Are there colors specific to your business or ones that you prefer used in your design?

bullet

Do you have print materials with company logos such as brochures, flyers etc. that contribute to the company's image? Do you need a custom logo created?

bullet

What type of audience you are targeting

bullet

Is there additional content such as special graphics, animation, scanned images, response forms etc., that you would like added?

bullet

Have you examined other web sites that relate to your business or organization? What is it that you liked or disliked about them?

Design and Development
Once your goals have been established and we have obtained all the necessary information:

bullet

Your content is organized into main pages and sub-pages.

bullet

The navigation system is developed.

bullet

A partial demo site is created and posted to the Web.

bullet

Your feedback is obtained.

bullet

Site development begins.

Your site will remain online throughout development, at a specified location, for you to follow along and give us your feedback.

Hosting Your Website
Once your site is completed, it is uploaded over the Internet to a hosting company's computer. We help you determine which hosting company meets your specific website needs and we serve as intermediaries with the technical people who run the host servers.  See our hosting services for more information regarding hosting companies and services.

Maintaining/Updating
Maintaining and updating your site is an important and ongoing task. If your site content stays fresh, site visitors will keep coming back. We can easily make changes, update content and provide all the technical support needed to keep your site up and running. See maintenance for more information regarding this.

Promoting/Marketing Your Site
It takes time and effort to build site traffic and develop a loyal customer base. Some of our clients do their own marketing and promotion online. This means that they spend time each month posting to mailing lists, sending out e-zines and submitting their sites to search engines and directories. Other clients prefer to have us do their online promotion. We have had great success with our search engine and directory submission program. See our promotion for more information on planning out your promotion strategies..

The decision to have us promote your site or to do it yourself depends on your available time and budget. For more information regarding this see our tips on promoting your site online and search engine and directory submission tips for search engine submission.

Don't forget, your off-line marketing is also extremely important to site promotion. See our great tips regarding off-line marketing.

Domain Name Registration
Every business website needs it's own unique domain name. That domain name, (www.yourcompanyname.com), is your exclusive Web address. Domain names are purchased from online domain registrars. If you do not have a domain name, we are available to obtain it for you. For more information see domain names
